Decision:

The Local Authority (LA) is required to consult on its admission arrangements, and to determine them by 28th February each year. The Authority consulted all maintained schools in the Borough as well as neighbouring admission authorities on both the proposed admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools, and also on the proposed co-ordinated admission schemes for primary and secondary schools. The Cabinet Member for Children's Services is asked to: i)Approve the proposed Admission Criteria for Community and Voluntary Controlled Primary Schools and Secondary Schools set out in Appendix ONE; ii)Approve the proposed Co-Ordinated Admission Arrangements for Primary Schools 2016/17 attached at Appendix TWO iii)Approve the proposed Co-ordinated Admission arrangements for Secondary schools 2016/17 attached at Appendix THREE; iv)Approve the proposed Within Year Admissions Policy set out at Appendix FOUR, and v)Approve the Planned Admission Numbers for 2016-17 for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools set out in Appendix Five.

Reasons for the decision:

This is an annual report, and follows consultation as required by the School Admissions Code 2014. The Authority has not proposed any changes to admission criteria for Community and Voluntary Controlled schools. The Local Authority must determine its admission arrangements each year following consultation with schools and others. Admission arrangements must comply with the School Admissions Code.
