The minutes of the Central Rochdale Area Forum held on Monday 18th September 2017 were approved as a correct record with no matters arising.
An update was provided on the comments received at the last meeting criticising the lack of progress that had been made in the Ward to improve flooding management. A statement had been received from the Council which was circulated to Forum members. A link to this is attached below.
Residents raised the following issues:
1. Misuse of bins at 126 Ramsay Street
2. Illegal tipping on the old railway cutting at Greenbank Road / Taylor Street
3. Vehicles being used on leisure centre car park in the evening which is causing a disturbance to residents.
4. Illegal tipping on Cook Street / Dean Street (Hamer) and Medley Street
5. Anti-social behaviour on the car park adjacent to Arrif Grocers.
6. The area around the Infirmary is in need of attention because of illegal tipping / littering.
It was acknowledged that the incidents on the leisure centre car park and the anti-social behaviour on the car park adjacent to Arrif Grocers had been reported previously and were being dealt with.
It was also confirmed that all the above would be reported.
Residents were encouraged to report incidents to the appropriate services as soon as possible and not wait until the Area Forum.
As a consequence of this discussion it was requested if a contact sheet identifying appropriate contact numbers be provided together with an understanding of the cleaning schedule for the Ward.
The Forum was informed that the following funds were available:
Councillor Ali Ahmed - £495.69
Councillor Sultan Ali - £1020.68
Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed - £1183.27
Ward Funds - £8000
An application for funding support (£1220.88) had been received from the Ajnabi Community Association in connection with the final phase of the Community Garden.
Following discussion the Forum agreed in principle to support this application subject to a site visit by residents.
Other suggestions put forward for financial support included:
1. The installation of a bench / benches on the green space adjacent to Hector Avenue.
2. The installation of outdoor exercise equipment in the Ward. Location would need to be determined.
3. Improvement to drainage on the footpath that runs across the play area on South Street.
4. A request for speed humps to be installed on Howard Street. This request was supported with a residents petition.
The Township and Engagement Officer agreed to progress the above proposals.
Based on frequent discussions that are held at this Forum, residents were encouraged to keep the area as tidy as possible
