Grant applications

    Minutes:

CG/08/15 Springfield Park Mere Eco Report
An application was received from Mr Roy Downs from the Friends of Springfield Park to fund an ecology report for the mere in the park.  The group hopes to apply for funding in the future to clean up the mere, which would include dredging.  The report is required to first establish whether there are any protected species in the mere, and to identify any other issues that may need to be addressed.  Due to a lack of response from the GM Ecology Unit the quotation has been obtained from a company called APEM.  A quote of £571.18 has been received for a basic report, however, the group do not feel that is sufficient and requested funding for a more substantial survey and report.
    Agreed: Award of £1127.18

    CG/09/15 Clean & Green Awareness
Sudden Community Centre submitted an application for funding that would allow them to deliver awareness and education sessions around the following:

    ·         Recycling

    ·         Growing herbs and vegetables

    ·         Upcycling

    ·         Litter – the law and a litter pick

    ·         Reducing our carbon footprint

    ·         Green Gym

    Agreed: Award of £420

    CG/10/15 Growth Project

An application was received from Hourglass Environment Ltd to assist with the recovery of the activities at its site at Kellet Street.  The site had been devastated by the recent floods.  There were a number of potential uses for funding as there is much work to be done in order to bring the site back to its previous standard.  Members fully supported the project, however, as funds were limited they were not able to award the full amount.  Councillor A Ahmed asked that the group be invited to attend the Central Rochdale Area Forum to apply for additional monies.
    Agreed: Award of £1642.36

    CG/11/15 Poppy Bedding Scheme
An application was made on behalf of the WW1 Project Group to fund the design and planting of a poppy on the Broadfield Park site.  This scheme would provide a more affordable design for 2016/17 and continue the theme of commemoration.
    Agreed: Award of £1,000
