Rochdale Township Funding 2014/15- Bids received

    Minutes:

    Doryoku Karate Club
A short presentation was given by the applicant. This consisted of an overview of the club and how the funding can support their entry to the Unified World Karate Championships in Italy which is taking place between the 28th and 2nd November 2014. There are 34 world organisations that participate in the event.

After the presentation members considered the application.

It was agreed to support the application made by the Doryoku Karate Club for £2255. Members were clear that it was a one of grant and the club cannot rely on township funds to help them year on year. In addition, members stated that they would like to meet the members of the club and hopefully see the medals they bring back from the championships. The applicant agreed to provide an update on their return.
Action 1: Doryoku Karate Club to provide feedback from championships and send invitation to members.

Marland Health and Cohesion Sports Project
A short update was provided to members. The applicant outlined participation figures which included approx. 10-15 members attending badminton and approx. 25+ members attending cricket. Players are from 16yrs old and live within Deeplish, Marland and Castleton.

After the presentation members considered the application.

It was agreed to support the application for the Marland Health and Cohesion Sports Project at £2934.51 (Members decided that they could not commit the whole amount requested and deducted costs in relation  to the purchasing of team kits as this was seen as a capital asset).

Discussions were had about the advertisement of the project and it was felt that the project needed to be opened up to the wider community.
Action 2: Marland Health and Cohesion Sports Project with the support of Councillor Sheerin and Hornby too look at the advertisement and attendance of the project.
Action 3: Invite members to attend project when they are hosting events.
