Introductions

    Minutes:

Introductions took place and Lauren opened the meeting and advised that she has produced a draft agenda for this, the first meeting of the re-launched ward based PACT Meetings. The meetings will run on a quarterly basis and the group agreed that the timing and venue suited them.

2.

Crime Updates

    Minutes:

There have been 3 reported burglaries in the last month, alongside 1 Shed/ Garage burglary and 9 x car crime, which includes people leaving keys in the engine of vehicles to warm them in a morning before work etc.

Concerns were raised about ‘cold callers’ and it was agreed that Eric Holliday would provide (via minutes) some of the ‘No Cold Callers’ stickers as residents felt these acted as a deterrent to cold callers.

PC Andy Gray advised a CRASBO, which is similar to the old ASBO but easier to enforce as it comes with more requirements, has been issued to a local youth.  The offender is 15 years old but GMP are pushing to publish a picture of him.  Homewatch coordinators may get this on email but PC Gray will confirm.

Residents Issues

    Minutes:

Concerns about vehicles double parking on Longmead way were raised.  This is causing issues on bin collection days.  L. Mason advised that legally without applying and paying for a Traffic Regulation Order, which would stop people parking anytime; it is difficult to control people parking.  Agreed that a request will be made to GMP to ask if they can keep an eye on the situation and ‘gently’ advise people that access needs to be maintained.

Concerns were raised about parking on Lulworth Road; drivers are unable to see too due to double parking etc.  Concerns were also raised that most vehicles are going well above 30mph, as speeding vehicles are a police issue it was agreed that PC Andy Gray will look into undertaking an operation in this area.  There are also concerns about speeding vehicles on Boarshaw Road.

Drug dealing is taking place around Vincent Street and near the Black Bull Pub again, if people are able to safely gather information, then providing registration numbers/ details of car/ times & dates of offences greatly assist GMP with providing a policing operation.

Residents queried how often the Road Sweeper visits Longmead Way?  It was agreed that Lauren would take this back and find out.   Residents were also advised that if bags of rubbish are found which have been fly tipped these can be reported directly to Rochdale Borough Council on 0300 303 8884.

4.

Any Other Business

    Minutes:

A discussion took place about vehicles illegally driving in Middleton town centre from the Long Street/ Asheton Roundabout.  Eric advised that the RMBC Smart Car can only be used for stationary traffic offences, not moving traffic offences, which are a police matter.  During the last enforcement day at the location discussed Eric was advised that in 2 hours over 200 people were caught using this route.
