Minutes of the last meeting and matters arising

    Previous minutes were discussed.

    ·         Regarding the previously reported issue regarding parked cars on Morton Street - Cllr Rowbotham stated she required clarification on the ownership of land at Lodge Mill – can be addressed with Head of Planning M Robinson at another meeting this month.  ACTION - Cllr asked PCSO O’Neil / E Holliday to obtain ownership details of maroon coloured Volvo which regularly parks corner of Morton St.

Crime Statistics and Updates

    PCSO O’Neil advised that the stats were similar year on year, with a slight spike in the number of residential burglaries.  The current quarter is up on the previous three months due to the darker nights and seasonal time of year.

    Stats discussed were;

    Domestic burglaries – 15 (majority of which were rear entry to the properties) up from 9 last quarter

    Break-ins to sheds etc – 16

    Criminal damage – figure doubled on last year’s – mostly driver’s windows.

    PCSO advised all residents to ensure all windows and doors of houses/outbuildings/vehicles are always locked – especially to the rear - and any valuables are not on show.  Mini alarms were distributed to residents in attendance as part of an initiative currently running by Police.

Residents Issues

    ·         Cllr Rowbotham enquired with Police whether the recent rape in Alkrington was still to be of a concern to residents in Middleton.  Advice was given that Police had upped patrols locally, increasing around school times of 3-5pm and that all residents local to the area of the incident had been questioned.  The matter is being dealt with by Police.

Any other business

    ·         Residents advised of an issue with street lighting on Longmead Way and the fact that works had not been completed, missing out replacement posts – area is very dark as a result.  Between numbers 10 & 12 and also between 19 & 21 Longmead Way.  ACTION - R Hudson to escalate matter to Council’s street lighting contact at Eon.
