The Committee considered the report of the Director of Neighbourhoods providing Members with community centre performance management information for the first two quarters of 2015 (April, May and June 2015 and July, Aug and September 2015).

The recommendation was presented to provide a view on whether to continue with current funding and monitoring arrangements for community centres as detailed in the report. 

Alternatives considered:  Community Centres could apply for funding in the form of an application form at the start of the new financial year and considered by a panel.   

Members scrutinised a range of information including forecasts, outputs and outcomes for each quarter, a breakdown of activities delivered by staff at the community centre, activities for which the community centre had been hired along with a breakdown of funding grants approved and the monitoring process in relation to the following community centres:- 

BACP, Castlemere Community Centre, Deeplish Community Centre, KYP, North Area Partnership, Rochdale Women’s Welfare, Sparth Community Centre, Spotland Community Centre, Sudden Community Centre, Turf Hill Community Centre and Wardleworth Community Centre

Members received an updated in relation to an incident at Castlemere Community Centre.  The Committee was informed that Ward Members and the Community Centre Co-ordinator had some concerns regarding the monitoring information provided.  It was reported that the Community Centre would continue to be monitored and feedback would be provided at a future meeting of this Committee. 

DECIDED – that the recommendation to continue with the current funding and monitoring arrangements for the Rochdale Township Community Centres be supported.
