Decision details

Objections to Proposed Traffic Regulation Order - Ings Lane, Rochdale

Decision Maker: Rochdale North Township Delegated Sub Committee

Decision status: For Determination

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To inform the Committee of objections received to a proposed TRO at Ings Lane, Rochdale

Decisions:

The Sub-Committee considered a report from the Director of Neighbourhoods advising of objections received to the advertised Traffic Regulation Order Borough of Rochdale ((Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Rochdale Township) Order 2008) (Amendment) (No.132) at Ings Lane, Rochdale.

Alternatives considered:

The Committee could consider recommending that the proposal be amended or abandoned. Should Committee decide not to introduce the restrictions proposed then the reported issues with parked vehicles would not be addressed.

Decision:

That Traffic Regulation Order Borough of Rochdale ((Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Rochdale Township) Order 2008) (Amendment) (No.132) at Ings Lane, Rochdale; be approved.

Reason for decision:

To ensure the free movement of traffic turning into and out of the side roads, reducing the likelihood of vehicles stopping suddenly on the main road thereby reducing the risk of shunt accidents; to improve visibility for motorists entering the main road from each side road; to allow buses to use a designated stop, unhindered by parked vehicles, allowing passengers to board and alight the vehicle safely from the pavement; and to allow an area for away coach parking, approved by the Police and football club.
