Proposed Pattern of Wards for the Electoral Review of Rochdale pdf icon PDF 160 KB

Additional documents:

The Council was informed that the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) was undertaking a review of Rochdale Borough Council’s (the Council) local government electoral arrangements. The outcome of the review was to be implemented at the 2022 Council elections.

The submitted report, considered by Members, set out the Council’s response to the invitation from the LGBCE to put forward its preferred future pattern of wards for the Borough.

In developing the future pattern of wards the Council had recognised the importance of electoral equality to a fair democratic process and had also understood and considered that delivering the Council’s priorities was reliant on ward boundaries that reflected the communities they served, thus bringing partners and communities with common interests and identities within clearly recognised geographical boundaries.

that the Council approves the proposed pattern of new wards to be presented to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, as set out in the submitted report and in the supporting documents appended to the report.
