Action Together

Liz Windsor-Welsh, Chief Executive of Action Together will provide an overview of the new infrastructure provider in the Rochdale Borough.

Minutes:

The Partnership received a presentation from Liz Windsor-Welsh, Chief Executive of Action Together.

In April 2019, at the Action Together AGM its members unanimously voted to make an amendment to the charity’s constitution to include Rochdale as an area of benefit in Action Together’s charitable objects.

In January 2019 Action Together had been successful in a competitive bid to deliver infrastructure services to community, voluntary, faith and social enterprise organisations in Rochdale and the charity decided it wanted to make it official and not only deliver work across the borough but also to show its long term commitment by changing its charities objects.

It was also confirmed that Action Together would only be seeking to actively work in the three localities of Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside whilst at the same time developing and maintaining a voice at a Greater Manchester level.

There would be a team of five staff for Rochdale. The team would include a strategic locality lead Rochdale, partnerships coordinator, development and volunteer coordinator, volunteer support officer and grant and general administration assistant. It was anticipated that Action Together’s full Rochdale team would be in place by June 2019 and would be based at 104 – 106 Drake Street, Rochdale.

Action Together aimed to:-

·         Support people to get help, providing opportunities to get better connected to what is going on in their local community and find the support they need.

·         Strengthen community and voluntary groups by providing support to run their group, find and secure resources and work together to do more.

·         Encourage local people, businesses and the public sector to give their time, skills and resources to support local good causes.

Some early areas of work for Rochdale included:-

·         An open day event on 25th April which provided an opportunity to meet staff and visit the Drake Street Offices;

·         Supporting Volunteer Week events from 1st – 7th June;

·         Looking a dormant Grants and Trust Funds in the Borough;

Members of the partnership welcomed the presentation and the positive and strategic approach that Action Together were taking.

 Resolved:

That the presentation from Action Together be noted and welcomed.
