Minutes:

All were welcomed to the meeting and apologies were noted.  Attention was drawn to the code of conduct, a summary of which was read out.  All attendees were asked to abide by the code for the duration of the meeting.

Minutes:

The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed and the followingupdates were provided.

Kingsway, Rochdale - flooding outside property on road after resurfacing
Township Officer raised the matter again with the Council’s Highways Department.  The area of concern was visited and inspected and the necessary resurfacing works have now been successfully carried out.

Fly-tipping rear of Sure Start Centre, Moss Street
Township Officer raised the matter with the Council’s Environmental Management Department.  The area of concern was visited and successfully cleared.

Guinness Partnership walk-round the ward to address issues
The Council’s Environmental Management Department have now arranged a walk-around with Guinness Trust Officers and Councillors to address any issues.

Medina Mosque parking congestion
Councillor Ali raised the matter with the mosque direct and he asked for users to apply consideration when they park vehicles in the area.

Greater Manchester Police - PACT meeting

Minutes:

PC Chadwick provided the update to residents and stated that burglaries for the ward are reduced by half compared to the previous period’s figures.  Patrols have been taking place around the Witley Road area.  Residents raised several concerns regarding drug dealing in specific areas disclosed direct to officers.

Kingsway crime figures - last 3 months:

·      Vehicle offences – 19

·      Residential burglaries – 19

·      Possession of drugs – 7

·      Possession of weapon offences – 6

·      Shoplifting – 7

·      Public order offences – 72

·      Criminal damage and arson – 61

 

Op Navigator -stats

·      167 drivers arrested whilst under the influence

·      45 drivers arrested with no insurance/tax/licence

·      105 cars seized

·      27 traffic operations completed

·      25 future operations booked

Police surgeries
Surgeries are held once a month at the Moss Street Youth Centre at 12.30–1.30pm.  The public can just drop-in to discuss any issues they are experiencing.  The date of the next surgery is 22 July 2022.

Open Forum

Minutes:

St Peter’s Primary School – Speeding vehicles
Residents reported that cars have been witnessed speeding on Woodbine Street East.  Councillors stated the speed humps need re-painting and an additional hump situated near to the shop would benefit the overall restrictions on the road.
Action: Townships to raise the matter with the Council’s Highways Department

Fly-tipping – Several locations
Residents reported several locations of incidents of fly-tipping around the ward including Count Street, Robinson’s Common and kick pitch, Crawford Street, Moss Mill Street and Elder Street.
Action: Townships to raise the matter with the Council’s Environmental Management Department

211 Milnrow Road, Rochdale – tree roots from highway causing damage to property
Councillor Ali requested this matter be escalated as the tree roots from the highway/pavement are damaging the resident’s property.
Action: Townships to raise the matter with the Council’s Environmental Management Department

12b & 12c Surma Close, Rochdale – broken fencing
Councillor Ali requested this matter be escalated as the fencing around the properties is broken.
Action: Townships to raise the matter with the Council’s Environmental Management Department or with housing provider Great Places

Kingsway/Queensway gyratory – Request for road traffic accident stats from the last 6 months
Councillors requested these statistics for the next area forum.
Action: Townships to raise the matter with the Council’s Highways Department

5.

Ward News

Minutes:

Councillor Ali - Updates

·           Traffic Regulation Order will be advertised imminently for 10 metres of speed restrictions (double yellow lines) on Count Street.

·           Ward and Members Funds for this financial year – any suggestions of projects for funding from residents are welcome.

 

Councillor Ahmed – Updates

·           Muriel Street kerb dropping has been approved and it will be implemented.

·           Percy Street/Kings Road have been added to the Council’s resurfacing programme.

·           Moss Lodge Hotel’s planning application will be submitted to committee and if any residents have any comments they need to email those into the Council’s Planning Department.
