Consultation on Maclure Road Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan pdf icon PDF 166 KB

To consider a report on the Maclure Road Conservation Area Appraisal and proposed Management Plan.

Additional documents:

Minutes:

The Township Committee gave consideration to a report of the Director of Neighbourhoods in relation to the Maclure Road Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan. The report sought approval from Members for a public consultation to take place on a draft conservation area appraisal and consultation strategy.

The Senior Project Officer, Rochdale Development Agency (RDA), was in attendance to present the report and addressed the questions of the Committee.

The Committee was advised that the Maclure Road Conservation Area was first designated in 2006, however there was currently no appraisal or management plan in place. These documents would provide opportunity to identify the areas and buildings of significance within the Conservation Area and identify opportunities for enhancement.

Members sought clarification regarding how residents would be contacted to ensure awareness throughout the community of the survey and potential implementation. It was advised that all properties within the Conservation area will receive a letter as well as there being the online survey which will also be open to the wider public. All communications would include information of in-person events and ways to contact.

The Committee expressed support for protecting the borough’s heritage sites and supported the proposal. Members also stressed the importance of the council abiding by the same building and planning restrictions that may be enforced upon residents and that residents should be treated equally and fairly.

Resolved:

1.    That the public consultation on the Maclure Road Conservation Area appraisal and the Maclure Road Conservation Area consultation strategy be approved.
